Why You Shouldn't Purchase A Wholesale ListIf search for the term "wholesale list" in Google you will find thousands of websites selling wholesale list for every category you can imagine. The truth is that most of these wholesale lists contain very few legitimate sources. You may have to sort through hundreds or thousands of sources to figure out who's legitimate and who isn't. Who has time for that? Those that do normally cost hundreds of dollars which I consider to be a complete rip-off. This information should educate you on why you SHOULD NOT but a wholesale list. Wholesale Lists Are Outdated Most wholesale lists you purchase on Ebay or on these mini websites contain wholesale sources that are no longer in business. Many of these wholesale lists were put together years ago and have not been updated since. Chances are the person who is selling the wholesale list bought it from somebody else to resell it. The only way to know which sources are still active is to manually check each source which is extremely time-consuming and may not be worth your time. Wholesale Lists Are Disorganized A majority of the wholesale lists you can find are extremely disorganized into a bunch of random wholesale sources from various categories. The person who put together the list didn't take the time to sort out the wholesalers into different categories to make things easier for their customers. Some people do this intentionally so you don't know how many wholesalers are in the category that you are looking for. Wholesale Lists Are Not Legitimate The biggest problem with wholesale lists is that many of the wholesalers are willing to sell to just about anyone. The truth is that wholesalers that sell to the general public aren't "true wholesalers". True wholesalers require a tax id, resale number, copy of your business license, or other proof that you are a legal business owner. These wholesalers will often take a few days to activate your account and may call you up to verify your information. These wholesalers often buy directly from the source in really large quantities to distribute. This gives them the ability to offer the lowest prices possible to their resellers. A lot of these wholesalers will also suspend or deactivate your account if you abuse or devalue their products. The best quality wholesale lists and directories often charge hundreds of dollars to give away these sources. Wholesale Lists Contain Retailers If you check the prices on some of the wholesalers on the list you will find that many of the prices are actually considered "discount retail". This is a common business model for many discount retailers because it allows them to attract uneducated wholesale buyers as well as anyone who's looking for a good deal. If the wholesaler does not require you to buy in bulk chances are you are not getting anything that is considered close to wholesale. Watch out though because some wholesalers are still selling at retail even if you were to purchase in bulk. Sometime they will hide the price in their shipping and handling to make up for their lower prices. Dec 30, 2007
